Matthew Evenhouse, M.D.
Dr. Evenhouse believes in leaving a place better than he found it. Everything he does is meant to benefit others and the larger community directly and indirectly. Dr. Evenhouse is very much a fan of people who know the truth about themselves, the world, and what's going on in it.
He loves working with a great team of people in solving complex problems and eliminating barriers to care. After years of hard work, it's beginning to pay off. Dr. Evenhouse also works part time in small regional medical centers as an ER doc and loves it.
His jobs give him insight on several levels of the healthcare system from the big hubs to the small groups working way out on the edge of the edge.
"Everywhere I work I get to be part of a team of dedicated people ready to assist in situations regardless of limitations in equipment, resources and backup."
Janet Baker, R.N.
Janet Baker is a Registered Nurse who specializes in Functional Medicine and Weight Management. Janet enjoys working with patients who have been diagnosed with autoimmune and metabolic diseases. She has also investigated the role nutrition and genetics play in improving patient lives.
Janet has been in the medical field since 1995. She began her career in nursing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital where she worked in the intensive care units. Later on she worked at St. Vincent’s East as a charge nurse in orthopedics. But her most challenging role as a nurse was helping to care for her father when he was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 81. Her father’s age challenged her to look outside traditional medicine to help him continue to live his life without pain or surgery.
Janet has worked in integrative and functional medicine for the last 9 years. She has a passion for improving metabolism naturally and helping the body to heal with the nutrients it requires. Outside of helping people achieve optimum health, her current interests lie in networking and collaborating with like-minded practitioners to promote the practice of functional medicine in the Gulf Coast area.
Tara McLellan is a certified functional medicine practitioner. Originally from Mobile, she has been a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner for over ten years and is also an instructor for the Master of Science in Nursing pogram at the University of South Alabama.
Tara enjoys spending time with her patients and truly listening to their needs to co-create their path to healing. She believes that the functional medicine model can bring true wellness, which involves not only the body, but also the mind and soul. Her passions include helpoing people who are struggling with autoimmune issues, mental health, and hormone imbalances.
Tara lives in Fairhope with her two dogs and three finicky cats. In her spare time she enjoys participating in triathlons, playing the piano, and gardening (though this is a work in progress).
